Banks and financial institutions remain prime targets for identity thieves. To date, 37 financial institutions in 2010 were victims of data breaches, as reported by the ID Theft Resource Center. A breach mitigation plan can help an organization to proactively prepare for a breach by putting measures in place to better secure data, more quickly detect a breach and promptly and efficiently respond. To ensure greater security, implement comprehensive employee background screening that verifies the identity exists and authenticates that it belongs to the applicant, along with thorough criminal background screening and ongoing monitoring.
