This was based on the ability of product families to support forecast consumption of both the exploded finished goods saleable item and the parent product family item (2 level forecast consumption). Release 11i is the biggest and most complex applications release ever! There have been ten 11i releases with major changes to tools and technology stack. Each release addresses bug fixes and has added new module functionality along with three specific Oracle environments that must be installed for Release 11i – database, applications and web. All environments require differing levels of support but each has to be maintained to fully utilize and make the most of the Release 11i Applications. It’s no longer a safe world, and corporate data needs to be protected from not only the external bad guys, but also the internal ones as well! Many companies believe this won’t happen to them – until it’s too late. There are numerous ways to quickly and easily improve the security of your Release 11i environment and protect your valuable data. With minimal effort required to implement, we will provide real world examples of how substantial security benefits can be obtained by performing simple configuration tasks such as modifying the default values of select profile settings and timeout parameters. Security tips and tricks specific to the Oracle Applications will also be provided to enable administrators to protect their data from "the bad guys". 8.4 TTT Release 11i Apps DBA Kevin Dahl Oracle DBA or Applications DBA? What's the difference? It's all Oracle, right? Wrong! With the increased complexities and interdependent components of the technology stack in Release 11i, the differences between an Oracle DBA and Oracle Applications DBA are even more significant than with past releases. The Oracle Applications DBA is a Technology Specialist whose responsibilities span from the operating system and database to the client desktop. 8.5 TTT Linux and Release 11i Kevin Dahl Upgrades to 11i often need to take into account newer hardware. As part of a hardware transition, it is a perfect opportunity to migrate from your legacy operating system to Linux. This presentation will specifically cover the process of upgrading an Oracle Applications 11.0.3, Solaris 2.8 environment to an Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.9, Red Hat Advanced Server 2.1 environment, however, the process is applicable to 10.7 and 11.0.3 environments running on any operating system(s). 8.6 TTT Release 11i and RAC Kevin Dahl RAID is the standard in nearly every organization's Oracle Database computing environment. In fact, it’s not a question of should RAID be used, but what form of RAID should be chosen. Why has RAID become so pervasive? Answer: it is cost effective and minimizes or eliminates downtime and data loss. RAC is now cost effective and minimizes or eliminates downtime due to computer failure. The answer to the question of whether or not to use RAC is nearly the same as the answer to the question of whether or not to use RAID.
