Outline for WebQuest
By: Faye Umble
Topic: The Underground Railroad
Content: Throughout the WebQuest, my students will read and address content related to
these questions:
What was the Underground Railroad?
Who was involved?
How did it work?
What did slaves have to do to reach the North?
What did they have to watch for/be careful of?
Who helped them?
Process: Deducing – Students will go over information relating to the Underground
Railroad and will infer generalizations and consequences related to slaves
running from the South to the North.
Analyze Errors – Students will look at themselves and their knowledge of the
subject in order to better understand their own thinking.
Construct Support – Students will be creating projects in which they will need
to gather information and support for their topic relating to the underground
railroad.
Analyze Perspectives – Students will look at slavery and though the eyes of the
slaves in the South and will gain insight into the processes taken in their escape
from the South to the North.
Multimedia – It is my intention to find primary sources written by slaves during this time.
I will also incorporate videos about the Underground Railroad as well as
sound clips from either slaves or historians who have studied this period in
history. I hope to create a WebQuest that incorporates all forms of
multimedia and is also creative and interesting.
