Bangkok Opera’s adventurous programming continues in its Sixth Season
Ayodhya - November 16, 18, 19 2006
The world premiere of Somtow Sucharitkul’s new opera, Ayodhya, tells the entire story of Asia’s great epic poem The Ramayana from
the viewpoint of its heroine Sita. The opera stars Michael Chance, Nancy Yuen, and John Ames, and is directed by Hans Nieuwen-
huis, one of Europe’s leading opera directors.

The Rape of Lucretia - Feb 24, 25, 26 2007- March 1 (Hanoi)
A co-production between the Bangkok Opera and the Netherlands Opera Studio, this is the Southeast Asian premiere of Britten’s chamber op-

  HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindorn, the much-beloved
  daughter of His Majesty the King of Thailand, will preside over
  the opening night of Somtow Sucharitkul’s opera Ayodhya, at
  the Thailand Cultural Center on November 16, 2006. This
  will be the princess’s first visit to the Bangkok Opera.
