Shenango Valley Ski Club Meeting March 15, 2006 - Minutes Meeting called to order at 8:13 PM by Mike George, Pres. Minutes from February meeting reviewed. Motion to accept by Al L., 2nd by Tony C. Motion carried. Treasurer’s report from February 2006 presented by Elwood W., Treas. Motion to accept by Ron S., 2nd by Michaelene. Motion carried. New Business • Nominations for new officers: Michaelene presented for the Nominating Committee (Michaelene M., Doug C., Barney S.) Ten names presented for the Board. No new nominees for officers yet; all current seats will be 2nd term. See Ballot in this issue of the newsletter. Event Reports • February 20 Presidents’ Day at Holimont: Ron S.: Lost $128.75 on the trip due to some no-shows. Motion to cover shortage by Deb M. 2nd by Betty J. Motion passed. 17 SVSC skiers enjoyed a wonderful time with Meadville and Erie members, too. • March 5: Trip to Peek’n Peak for the disadvantaged children’s fun day. Michaelene says the day was “gorgeous” with 12 kids of 16 and 2 members’ children. No-shows were due to flu! Thank you to Dean Dairy, McDonalds and Joy Cone Co. Eight adults participated. A lot of fun was had by all. Under budget by $103! Michaelene showed some pictures at the meeting. A picture will be submitted to the Sharon Herald for publishing. Pictures will be sent to the schools, too. Students from Brookfield, West Middlesex, Hermitage and Sharon schools participated. No casualties but a noisy, fun bus ride home! • Mar 10-12: Bristol! Lots of sunshine and demo skis. Barney and Carol S. drove up with Tom Amundsen and Babs Quincy. The bus was just too expensive to make it a club trip - over $2200! Snow was heavy/soft with sunburned noses all around! • Betty S. was with friends/family at Lake Tahoe - too much snow to ski in! Way too much! Had to shovel out of hotel room and wear ski suits to walk to town. • Mar 10-12: Davos, Switzerland WPSC Report pending return of the travelers! Calendar of Upcoming Events • Mar 17-18 Y-town Club: Snowshoe Resort WV $109 includes one room 2 dbl beds. Plus lift ticket. Contact: Doug C. and Tom B. are considering… They say that snow is expected. • Sometime in May/June there will be a Borland Golf day. • BikeNHike: Call Deb M. 724-974-9558 for more info. LOTS of discussion = schedule: • April 9 hike Sunday Meet at Danny’s at 1:00. • April 22nd Saturday Doug’s bike trail -Moraine State Park, trail is 7 miles one way. Meet at W.Msx Diner at 10:00 and at Eppinger’s Diner (call Doug 724-6523410 for directions) at 11:00 for breakfast. It has a sign “EAT”. • April 30 Wilhelm Sunday 2:00 at the W Msx Diner. 3:00 at Wilhelm Boat Livery is start point. Maybe the Winery following the ride - or something else. Decide there... • May 21 Pedal Pittsburgh - register by May 1 for ride. Multiple distance choices: from 15 to 60 miles. • May 7 Sunday Austintown vs. Champion . To be decided at next meeting! • May 13 Franklin Saturday before Mother’s Day. TAKE A FLASHLIGHT! Meet at W Msx at 9:00 am. • June 3 or 4 Ride sponsored by Mercer Co. Trails Association.
