Since the restructuring of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Alabama has
become a Volunteer-Led State program. Alabama has a training mechanism in place to
certify volunteers through a screening process. The purpose of the 4-H volunteer is to
enrich the youth development program through teaching, developing 4-H programs,
projects, securing resources and providing positive life experiences for youth.
