Project Start Date: August 2007 Date of Project Status Update: June 2008

Milestones:
August 28, 2007 – First meeting of the Electronics Workgroup at the NIST Standards in Trade workshop

Actions Since Last Update:
At the August meeting, the workgroup identified the four priority electronic products: TVs,
computers, monitors, set-top boxes

We got confirmation from the US consumer electronics manufacturing trade association that these 4
priority products identified by the workgroup are the biggest energy consumers and would be good
candidates to focus on for test procedure harmonization.

Work is ongoing to complete the document listing "Electronics Products Test Procedures Identified
as being Used by APP Countries" in preparation for the next BATF meeting in Seoul, June 23-24.

Deliverables Since Last Update:

Date Completed:
Next Steps: At the Seoul meeting, the workgroup will re-confirmed the proposed work plan and
country commitments. A proposed next step is to create deliverables for each of the four priority
product categories – TVs, computers, monitors, set-top boxes - that documents market and industry
research and analysis (projected energy consumption, environmental impacts, energy savings
potential, usage patterns, industry partners, etc.).

At the meeting in Seoul, we will also propose that the Electronics Workgroup convene the next
meeting at the Consumer Electronics Show 1/8 – 1/11/2009 in Las Vegas. This would be an
opportune time for country representative to meet with industry representatives to finalize
documents and establish future work activities.

Proposed Project End Date: Project Already Complete:  Yes No X
