Party in the Park 2006 - WBBA shows off its wares to 500+ visitors

Organisers of the July 15th event estimate that around 1000 local people took
part – roughly split 50/50 between the evening music and the afternoon
displays, including the packed WBBA marquee. Certainly, at times it was
difficult to get through the throng of visitors to WBBA stands and stalls, and
many people commented that they never realized how much was available on
their doorstep. Thanks go to all the members taking part, both old and new,
for their support, and to the WBBA organizers – especially the companies
loaning equipment or using their purchasing power to secure good pricing on
the marquee hire and public liability insurance.

The WBBA presence at Party in the Park 2006 cost £550, around half of which
was funded by exhibitors, and while the Association intends to participate in
2007, a greater proportion of the costs need to be carried by the exhibitors.

EGM – Taking Forward the WBBA into 2007 – New Team Wanted!

It has been a busy 12 months for the WBBA. We have achieved substantial growth in membership, which
now stands at 40 – accounting for over half of the 65 VAT registered trading enterprises in the Village, so
there is clearly still room for expansion. We have also helped 10 new start up businesses with free first year
membership, and financed a professional website as well as a major community and promotional event in the
Party in the Park.

The 2006 officers, Paul Billington, Jim Siddy and Dick Doran, believe that it would be good for the Association
to have a new Chair and officers each year to drive a fresh, enthusiastic and thriving agenda, and
consequently, while remaining active supporters of the WBBA, they will not be seeking re-election. Elections
will now take place at October’s EGM, following the low turnout at the September AGM.

Membership payments

We would be grateful for the few outstanding membership invoices for 2006 to be settled as soon as possible;
cheques can be sent or dropped in at the Village Help & Information Centre in Brannon Way, or BACS
transfers made to Nat West Bank, Newport IW (Beneficiary Name: Wootton Bridge Business Association, Sort

Party in the Park. On the day, we noticed that visitors were slow to The Island Cosmetic Clinic

around 350 copies were distributed in all. A copy is enclosed. BriteWyte
