					               SFY 2009: CDRR Timeline Template User Guide
Software Requirements
Step 1. Microsoft Office Excel is required in order to be able to input information into the
       CDRR Timeline Template. If you have Microsoft Office Excel, please proceed to Step 4.
       If you do not have Microsoft Office Excel, please proceed to step 2.
Step 2. If you do not have Microsoft Office Excel you will need to download FREE Open Office
       3.0.0 for Windows. Please go to the following web address:
       http://download.openoffice.org/
       Click on the green box at the top of the page that says, “Download OpenOffice.org” and
       follow the directions to download this FREE software. Open Office is a FREE software
       program that is compatible with any Microsoft Office Excel Documents.
Step 3. After you have downloaded OpenOffice, please open OpenOffice Calc (similar to
       Microsoft Office Excel).

Step 4. After completing Forms 10, 11 and 12 in application, go to the Kansas Tobacco Use
       Prevention Program’s Home Page at:
       http://www.kdheks.gov/tobacco/index.html
       Click on the SFY 2010 Grant Documents link. Open the CDRR Timeline Template with
       Microsoft Office Excel or OpenOffice Calc.
       NOTE: The Planning Phase must construct a timeline. Do not use the CDRR Timeline Template for
       Planning Phase Grants. For Capacity Building Phase, please only complete the one chosen Focus Area.
       You will only be required to complete one of Step 5, Step 6 or Step 7. This will be dependant upon which
       focus area you choose after completing the Community Assessment. After completing Step 5, 6 or 7, please
       skip to Step 8.

Step 5. Reference the last page of Form 10 in your application.
   A. Under Short-Term Outcome in the Timeline Template, type the outcome selected from
       Form 10 in your application. (More than one outcome may be typed here.)
   B. Under Activity Brief Name in the Timeline Template, type your Activity Brief Name
       listed in your application.
   C. Under Action Steps in the Timeline Template, type all action steps required to reach
       outputs selected for that specific Activity.
   D. Place an “X” in the Timeline Template column corresponding with the month in which
       that activity will take place. (Multiple months are acceptable.)
   E. Repeat for all Activity Briefs in Form 10.
   F. Save Work
       NOTE: For OpenOffice Calc, click on the File tab at the top of the document, click on Save As. On the bottom of the Save As
       window, in the drop down menu for “Save As Type”, change to Excel Document (.xls). (This will save the document so that it can be
       later opened by Microsoft Excel. You only have to do this once. The next time you save you should just be able to click on Save and it
       will automatically save it as an Excel Document.)

Step 6. Reference the last page of Form 11 in your application.
   A. Click on the “Goal 2” tab at the bottom, left-hand corner of the Timeline Template.
   B. Under Short-Term Outcome in the Timeline Template, type the outcome selected from
      Form 11 in your application. (More than one outcome may be typed here.)
   C. Under Activity Brief Name in the Timeline Template, type your Activity Brief Name
      listed in your application.
   D. Under Action Steps in the Timeline Template, type all action steps required to reach
      outputs selected for that specific Activity.
   E. Place an “X” in the Timeline Template column corresponding with the month in which
      that activity will take place. (Multiple months are acceptable.)
   F. Repeat for all Activity Briefs in Form 11.
   G. Save Work

       Form 12 in your application. (More than one outcome may be typed here.)
   C. Under Activity Brief Name in the Timeline Template, type your Activity Brief Name
       listed in your application.
   D. Under Action Steps in the Timeline Template, type all action steps required to reach
       outputs selected for that specific Activity.
   E. Place an “X” in the Timeline Template column corresponding with the month in which
       that activity will take place. (Multiple months are acceptable.)
   F. Repeat for all Activity Briefs in Form 12.
   G. Save Work

Step 8. Select “Final Timeline” tab on bottom, left-hand corner of document. The “Final
       Timeline” will have automatically populated. This spreadsheet is locked so any changes
       that you see need to be made will need to be changed in the original “Goal 1,” “Goal 2”
       and “Goal 3” spreadsheets.
       Print ONLY the “Final Timeline” spreadsheet tab to include in your Final
       Application. (Note: Printed document will be several pages.)
