Bignell, Virginia Requested by: Reason: Stan Smith 11-24 Virginia is dealing with deep depression after the death of her sister. Blake (Grandson of Rick & Debbie Kent) Requested by: Debbie/Gail Besemer on 11-18 Reason: Please pray for 5 year old Blake who suffers from Leukemia. This little guy is struggling greatly today due to the severe headache he has, caused by the swelling around the brain. Doctors are concerned that he could have another stroke. Last Tuesday Blake had a round of chemo and the drug that they gave him has the side effect of these severe headaches and could last for up to 6 weeks or more. Pray also for the family who loves him so, and their finances during this. UPDATE Received on 11-21: He had a MRI yesterday and the results came back - There is NO NEW cancer, no cancer at all in his brain or head. The MRI did show a large amount of white matter and this is a side effect to the chemo he received last week. Last week Blake had a spinal tap and when they do a spinal tap they also inject chemo into his spine to help prevent any cancer from starting in his brain or spine. So last week he received the chemo and began the headaches by Wednesday and kept having them until they became unbearable and he then was admitted to the hospital for further tests. The doctors all reviewed the MRI and the additional tests that were run yesterday and they all agreed that Blake had a severe reaction to the type of chemo treatment. We are all relieved there is NO CANCER in his brain, there is no new cancer at this time. Blake slept for 18 hours after the doctors and nurses medicated him. His headaches are gone as of last night. Blake is home and resting.
