Job Placement Newsletter No. 2 January 26, 2009
Resume Tips What the MOST COMMON MISTAKES made by resume writers? Leaving out their Job Objective! (What if somebody knocks on your door? You open it and say, "Hello, what do you want?" They say, "Umm...") HOW FAR BACK should you go in your Professional History? Far enough and not TOO far. About 5 or 10 years is enough--UNLESS your best work experience is a bit farther back. In my case, I put all 101 years on there. What if you don't have any EXPERIENCE in the kind of work you want to do? GET SOME! Find a place that will let you do some VOLUNTEER work. Our next volunteer event is March 13th and 14th. Also, look at past volunteer work and you can use it to document some skills you'll need for your new job. PLACEMENT WORKSHOPS Placement Workshop days are held every other Fridays to assist Graduates/students to search the job postings and for resume assistance. The next workshop is on Friday, February 6th. LOOK WHAT WE FOUND! We found a medical temporary employment service that will take all DAP and DOM graduates with a year of experience. The great news is that includes your internship, volunteer service, and externships! They cover VA, MD and DC facilities The contact there is Vicki Carlo and her contact information is below.
