writing little books. We have also been encouraging the children to only capitalize the first letter in their name. This is very tricky for some students! After Christmas, we will begin working on writing last names.
Our zoo is continuing to grow. We
designated some of our center time towards working on the zoo. The children are continuing to make vines, fences, rocks, trees, and other features for our animals’ homes. Books we read this week include:
Off We Go!, Emily’s House, Zoo, and Down by the Bay. Mrs. Behrend is also starting another “Ready Freddy” book called “Homework Hassles.” We have noticed that the children’s attention span for listening to books has increased dramatically since the beginning of the year!
Just a reminder-- in the case of
inclement weather, we follow the Brookings School District dismissals. We will also go outside for recess unless the wind chill is below zero, so please have your child dressed appropriately for the weather. Thanks.
Be sure to ask your child about:
nocturnal animals, going on a word hunt, AAAB patterns, the difference between hopping and jumping, and
