                                  PASTOR'S PERSPECTIVE

March is here and that means the days are becoming longer. In much of the world, March is
the beginning of their New Year. Ancient Rome, which first named the month March for their
war God (Mars) began their New Year at this point. March was also the beginning of the
military campaign season for Rome. It is the Vernal or (spring) equinox in the Northern
Hemisphere. So new beginnings are on the horizon for this month and if you were born in
March, then you were born in the month of courage. Your birthstone is the bloodstone and
aquamarine. Those two stones mean courage and your flower is daffodil. I offer just a little
history to encourage us all to take courage, and look forward to new beginnings this spring in
our personal lives, and our spiritual victories.

We should also take a lesson from the Ancient Romans and go on the offensive against the
wiles of the devil with more prayer and more serious contemplation of the Scripture. This
month will present a first for Bro John Sanders and me as we head to Haiti for 8 days of
mission effort. Pray for us that we will be effective for the Lord there. We will present power
point presentations and testimonies when we return.

It’s that time again---We will begin taking orders for chocolate covered Easter eggs on
Sunday March 8th. Be sure and pick up your order form. Orders are due Sunday,
March 22nd. Eggs will be ready for pick up on Palm Sunday, April 5th. Please sign up
on the bulletin board to help make eggs the week of March 30th. Ladies, we need
your help as this is our biggest fundraiser.
