National Historian-District 5 & DAAA Display
At the 2008 National Conference, Jim Kay (our national historian) will be setting up a display featuring only District 5 and DAAA. The exhibit will focus on the origins of DAAA in District 5 and highlight the individuals from the district who were instrumental in its origination. If you have any pictures, articles, awards, etc. that you would like included in the display, please contract Lydia Graber via e-mail (lydg@sbcglobal.net). All items will be returned to you. Donated items will be stored in the LPA archive. There will be more information provided in the District Newsletter.
Information Changes
It is very important that Lydia Graber be notified with any changes of personal information. For example, name changes, e-mail changes, address changes, phone number changes, etc. You can e-mail Lydia at lydg@sbcglobal.net with the changes, and she will forward the changes to national.
Board Meeting
Lydia Grader will be attending the LPA National Executive Board mid-year meeting on February 2nd & 3rd in California. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns that you would like her to address at this meeting, please contact Lydia via e-mail at lydg@sbcglobal.net or call her at 734-461-0858.
Putting on the Ritz T-Shirts
The fall 2007 regional was hosted by the North coast Chapter in Westlake, Ohio. Jill R. wanted me to let you know that there were still T-shirts left from their “Putting on the Ritz” event. She has all sizes available. You will get a t-shirt, a key chain, and a complimentary CD (that Jill put together of songs from each decade) for the low price of $12.00. So, if you forgot to get one when you were there or didn’t go, but would like one anyway, contact Jill at jilarie1@sbcglobal.net. Their chapter is trying to make up what was spent on them.
Spring Regional 2008
The spring regional will be hosted by the Cincinnati chapter. It will be held in Mason, Ohio at the King’s Island Resort & Conference Center. Room rates are $79/night + tax. Rates to the park are $27.95 and $24.95 (for 48 inches and under). We will be staying right at the resort!!! This should be a great time for all!!! Registration information should follow in the district newsletter.
Baby Fund Raiser
If you read last month’s newsletter, you know Denise and Kevin Wood have adopted a little boy. They will be required to stay in Thailand for approximately 2 weeks. The couple has incurred many expenses during the adoption process. They are having a fund raiser to help offset some of these expenses. If you are interested in purchasing a t-shirt for their adoption fund raiser, you can contact Denise via e-mail at pandbmama@aol.com. She has M, L, and XL available. The cost is $12.00. If you don’t want a t-shirt, but would like to make a donation, I am sure the family would appreciate that!!! I was unable to download the graphic. Therefore, I will try to describe it. It is red with white writing. The word Adoption is on the top line, then there is a triangle representing the roof of a house and three hearts underneath that, line 2 = Bringing Hearts, line 3 = Home, and line 4 = Together. Maybe, Denise can e-mail you the graphic when you contact her. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!

Volunteers
When my family hosted a local meeting, it was a big deal. Even though I am part of the conference committee, and I am volunteering, I still can’t imagine what goes into planning and hosting a national conference. I have put many pleas soliciting help in my newsletters, but I have not heard anything about anyone volunteering (which doesn’t mean that people haven’t). Please try to offer some kind of help. There are many areas and ways you can help. If you want to help, but don’t know where to start, contact Amy Andrews at DocAndrews@aol.com.
Valentine’s Day Party
The Troy meeting for February 9 has been changed. The meeting will NOT be held at the Troy office, but instead at Stacey and Roger’s house. The conference committee meeting will be held at 11:00AM. The annual Valentine’s Day party will follow at 2:00 PM. There will also be a district meeting during the party. Prizes for the best-dressed will be awarded. Kids can do crafts and/or make Valentine’s. Stacey will provide the main dish. Please call Stacey at 248-813-8855 to let her know what dish you plan to bring. She will have pop and some other drinks, but if you want something specific, please bring it. Remember, extended family members are welcome. Please join us for some Valentine fun!!! The address is 2038 Laurel Drive, Troy, MI 48085.

Condolences
I am sorry to report the passing of Susan (Winarski) Knepp. Although I did not know her, I was told she was an icon in our chapter. Susan was cremated; therefore, there will not be a funeral service. There will be a memorial held this Saturday at Eagles in their home town. I do not have any other information about the service this Saturday. Lydia Graber may have more information. Her number is 734-461-0858. When the weather warms up, Lee is planning a memorial service at their church in Detroit. Please keep Lee and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
