Will of Samson Striker:
"No. 1972 Register Book R, pages 155:156, on the sixth day of June 1832 at ten o’clock
A.M., James Colton, Dp. Registrar, Prince Edward

To the Register of the County of Prince Edward,
A memorial of a Will dated the fifth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand
and eight hundred and twenty six in the words following to wit.

I, Samson Striker of the East Lake in the township of Hallowell in the Midland District
and Province of Upper Canada, yeoman, Being in perfect health of body mind and
memory, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form
following, that is to say, …

… In the first place, my Will and desire is that my lawful debts shall be honorably paid
out of my Estate and Property …

… In the next place, I leave my wife Elizabeth Striker a decent living with my family out
of the neat productions of my homestead estate at the East Lake aforesaid, as long as
she remains my widow and all the property she brought with her …

… In the next place, I give unto my daughter Mercy the sum of ten shillings …

… and to my daughter Sarah ten shillings …

… and next to my son John ten shillings …

… to my daughters Ruth and Rhoda the same sum of ten shillings each …

… and to my son James ten shillings …

… and to my granddaughter Ursula W. Bane I will and bequeath one feather bed and
bedding ...

… and having forgot my son Joseph in his turn, I leave him likewise ten shillings …

… and I will and bequeath to my son Jarvis Striker the remaining half of my homestead
estate being the front half of lot number twelve in the first of Hallowell on the South East
side of the East Lake will all my buildings, orchard, livestock, grain, farming utensils and
household furniture with all things thereon …
… and I likewise that my said son Jarvis C. Striker shall have/give? all the above sums to
my sons and daughters and all other just sums and demands against me and I
nominate, constitute and appoint John C. Striker and Jarvis C. Striker Executors to this
my last Will and Testament, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my said last
will and testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal to which Will is witnessed
James Rankin, Sen’r., late of Hallowell, School Teacher, William Ogden of the same
place, yeoman an Adoch Ogden of the same place married woman and this memorial
thereof is required by Jarvis Striker a devisee in said Will mentioned to be registered
pursuant to law.

In testimony whereof, the said Jarvis Striker hereunto set his hand and seal the fourth
day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two.

The Execution of the foregoing Memorial as well as the Will to which it relates was duly
proved by the oath of William Ogden of the township of Hallowell yeoman one of the
subscribing witnesses to the same on the fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and thirty two. Before me …
