RE: Recruiting Faculty of Education Graduates for September 2009 Dear Faculty of Education staff and students, Each year we receive invitations from numerous Faculties of Education, inviting the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board to complete recruitment surveys or to attend institutional Information/ Recruitment Fairs. As early as during the Christmas Break, students are advised to access our updated Teacher Recruitment Kit and General Recruitment ads on our Boards' website at www.pvnccdsb.on.ca - under "Employment". General Recruitment ads can also be viewed on applytoeducation. This Board is currently using the applytoeducation (formerly applytoteach) database to maintain applications and search teacher candidates. Graduating students who are interested in teaching with this Board, must ensure that their portfolios are registered with www.applytoeducation.ca for our Board to view. Only applications registered on applytoeducation will be given consideration for the interview and hiring process all year round. While we will not be attending your recruitment fair this year, we would like to invite your teacher candidates to consider our Board. We will enthusiastically welcome applications from all of your teacher graduates for all division and subject areas. Please encourage your students to start applying on-line by January 1, 2009, and they can continue to build up their portfolios on applytoeducation from there. While we cannot project the number of new hires we will need for each September at this early date, it is always anticipated that both permanent full-time, part-time, as well as shortterm and long-term occasional teaching opportunities will be available once again throughout the 2008/2009 School Year. Interviews generally take place between February and April each year. However, interviews can also take place during summer months and into the following school year as well. Thank you for your continued assistance to our Board. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office. Sincerely,

Debbie Willette Manager of Human Resource Services 705-748-4861 ext. 229 /cs C:\Documents and Settings\KOolo\Local Settings\Temp\XPgrpwise\FACULTY letters to email 2008.frm

TEACHER APPLICATION PACKAGE The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board welcomes your Teacher Application Package. The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board is currently using www.applytoeducation.ca to search teacher candidates. If you are interested in teaching with the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board, please ensure your resume is registered with applytoeducation. Please follow the directives outlined by applytoeducation and prepare the following documents: - cover letter (does not have to be specific to our school Board) - resume - current certification from the Ontario College of Teachers (if you possess it) - copies of any transcripts/diplomas/certificates to-date - practice teaching reports (if currently attending a faculty of education) - most recent teacher evaluation (experienced teachers) - pastoral reference form for teachers (which you may obtain on our Board website at www.pvnccdsb.on.ca - see EMPLOYMENT A Criminal Records Check is not required at this stage. A current original Criminal Records Check including the Vulnerable Sector Screening component - will be required as a condition of permanent or temporary employment upon request by this Board. All documents must be added on applytoeducation as you receive them. Registration on applytoeducation must be kept updated even into the next school year to remain a candidate for long-term occasional or permanent consideration. APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 2009

TEACHER RECRUITMENT PROCESS Your application will be tracked through the applytoeducation database. It is anticipated that short-listing interviews will be scheduled commencing February through April 2009. While there is a deadline of March 31st, 2009, for applications, please be advised that the interview process commences in February 2009. When an application is selected, the applicant will be contacted by this office - usually via email - and invited to schedule an interview. Persons successful at the interview stage will be placed on an approved short-list. Administration and Principals have access to the approved short-list, for consideration for hire to suitable teaching assignments as they become available for September 2009 or throughout the school year. The earlier you register your portfolio with applytoeducation, the earlier we can consider your application for interview. If you were interviewed and recommended to the approved short-list in 2008, you only need to ensure your portfolio is up-to-date on applytoeducation. If you are currently on the qualified occasional teacher list with our Board, and not on the approved short list and wish to be considered for an interview for permanent consideration, you must ensure your application is registered on applytoeducation, for full-time, part-time and occasional employment. Even once interviewed, shortlisted, and/or offered occasional teaching assignment with the Board, applicants interested in securing permanent employment with our Board, must maintain an active and up-to-date application on applytoeducation. This way we are aware of your continued interest and have access to your most up-to-date application at all times. If you require additional information, please visit our website at www.pvnccdsb.on.ca or www.applytoeducation.ca or contact Human Resource Services at the Catholic Education Centre at 705-748-4861.
