Kingwood/Humble Area Aggie Moms Newsletter May 2008
President’s Corner
Howdy! I am looking forward with such excitement and anticipation to the upcoming year as your Kingwood/
Humble Area Aggie Moms club president for 2008-2009. I have had the privilege of meeting and working with so
many outstanding women in the three years I have been associated with Aggie Moms, and I know this year will bring
even more Aggie family friendships. My husband and I attended other universities in our great state of Texas, our two
older daughters attended a wonderful university in Waco, and our son has found the perfect fit at Texas A&M. In fact,
our son-in-law, Texas A&M class of ’99, was thrilled to have another Aggie in the family. When our daughter and
son-in-law announced the upcoming birth of our first grandchild, both our son-in-law and son had the “class of 2030”
figured out almost immediately. Is that something they practice at Fish Camp? Our son has certainly enjoyed the
college experience and life enrichment Texas A&M has afforded him, as I hope your Aggie has as well. Our family
has been introduced to the Aggie Spirit, to many of the traditions of Texas A&M, and we have been impressed with
the Aggie family as a whole. That “family feeling” goes beyond the campus in College Station or Galveston, and
permeates every Aggie Mom meeting. I hope you will make every effort to attend Howdy Party in the summer, our
informative monthly meetings and participate in whatever capacity you are able in the activities of our club. By
working together, we can have a fabulous year for our club and for our Aggies. I appreciate the trust you have placed
in me and your new board officers to guide and lead our club in the year to come. After three years, I am still trying
to get the hang of saying “Howdy!”, but it is definitely growing on me. Lynn Harper, 2008-2009 President,
Kingwood/ Humble Area Aggie Moms.
New Aggie Moms Board installed
Thank you to Kathy Steffan, 2007-2008 president of the Texas A&M Federation of Mother’s Clubs and past
president, Sue Anderson, for making the installation of our new officer board “musically harmonious”, the theme of
this year’s A&M Mother’s Club Federation Board. We all enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Rancho Grande and were
treated to the musical renditions down memory lane related to the responsibilities of each new board position. We are
certainly looking forward to a great year and all the support the board knows you will give the plans, activities and
events of our club in the upcoming year.
Aggie Version of the Irish Blessing
May Highway 6 always rise to meet you . . .
May the 12th Man always be at your side . . .
May the Texas sun shine full upon your face. . .
(until the second half when the shade form the upper deck brings cool relief)
May the rain fall softly upon your field . . .
(on any day except Game Day Saturdays)
May the Lord God hold you safely in the palms of His hands.

Goodie Bags a success!
"We would like to thank all the volunteers for the many hours and helpful hands that went into making the
Fall and Spring Goodie Bags a huge success. The students loved both bags and all the goodies packed inside! It
really is a joy to see them grin from ear to ear when they receive their bags. The thought of having mom send them a
"care/good luck package" during finals gives them a sense of home and the support they need. Mary Widmier has
been a great help in acquiring the Humble District Office as a place to pack the goods, which is a crucial part of
making it a quick and efficient project. We would also like to thank Katy Weirich that has been so kind through her
business to help us purchase those great bags for our students! It has been a pleasure for us to work with you and be
able to see first hand what great young adults you all have! June will be handling Membership next year and I will
stay on with the Goodie Bags project working with Barbara Zierold. Enjoy the summer and we look forward to
another great year! June Bonny and Shan Sutton-Bradley "
