                                Mathematics Coach Application
                                            July 1, 2010 – June 30, 2011
Two additional elementary mathematics coaches focusing on Grades 3-5 will coach AUSD teachers during the 2010-
11 school year. These mathematics coaches will be released from classroom teaching duties during 2010-11, will
serve as visiting educators to the Alameda County Office of Education, and will receive training and support beginning
in June 2010. See next page for a detailed job description. (These coaches are in addition to the current SIMI-2 and
district coaches and the work will be aligned with the goals of SIMI.)

                      AUSD-MDC Elementary Mathematics Coach Job Description


AUSD-MDC Elementary Mathematics Coach job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

   Provide weekly site mathematics coaching support (demonstration lessons, classroom visitations, and
    professional development)
   Collaboratively help teachers plan standards-based lessons
   Support grade level mathematics meetings at each site
   Support implementation of district-adopted mathematics textbooks and corresponding course or grade
    level pacing guides
   Support implementation of district benchmark assessments and course mid-year and final assessments
   Assist with benchmark and trimester and/or mid-year and final assessment analysis
   Facilitate after school grade level meetings and best practice workshops
   Meet as appropriate with site administration
   Support the development and implementation of student support services, including intervention
    programs and after school tutoring
   Support the development and implementation of parent support programs
   Attend monthly MDC mathematics coaching professional development meetings at the Alameda County
    Office of Education
   Work as part of a team of AUSD-MDC and SIMI-2 mathematics coaches
   Complete MDC coaching logs and weekly calendar
   Co-lead grade span workshops for up to two ACCLAIM Saturday sessions
   Provide support for other district mathematics initiatives
