                                    What’s Happening?
The outside 100 yd. range has developed very well. Grass is sprouting on the berm and firing
line. Safety signs have been posted behind berms. The huge range stump is history (thanks, Joe
Sicheneder)! Still, some small projects are left and we expect the outside range to be open to full
members and their guests by early May.
The Coop Update and Upgrade Program (CUUP): The CUUP is progressing. The large downed
tree beside the building has been split and stored (thanks, Doug Armstrong, Ray Auman, Frank
Wagoner, Will Long and especially Dale Hoover). The stump outside the Coop door has been
cut down and almost removed (thanks Joe Sicheneder). The new support posts at 100 yd. line
have additional concrete applied around base (thanks to Wayne Broome and Bob Beaver).
Electrical wiring is moving down range on left side, to 50 yd. line. Ceiling outlets with lighting
fixtures will be installed. (thanks, Michael Holt and Bob
Beaver). New target stands with .22 rimfire deflection
plates were purchased and built (thanks, Wayne
                                          Broome).
Anyone who is interested donating time, talent or
material to your club and the shooting sport, contact Bob
                                         Beaver – 336.889.2772.

                                                 Highlights of Recent Matches
1 March .22 Rimfire Benchrest: Turnout was pretty
good with a few new faces. We had 18 shooters and
over 6 visitors. Weather was cool and the stove helped
everyone feel comfortable. Surprising how many
friendships develop around a warm stove. Many people
visit to see friends and talk. Eric Garrison had the high
score of 994-29x. He was followed by David Gussler’s
994-27x. Close match with only two X’s between the
two leaders. Frank Wagoner placed third with 990-31x.
Parker Chavis was high Junior with 986-23x, Sayward
Oakley followed with 885-6x and Alex Gibson placed
Charleton Heston third Junior with 871-4x.
    4 October, 1923 – 5 April,
2008 15 March Centerfire Benchrest: Five serious competitors
arrived, prepared to shoot some impressive scores. The top three shooters scored the 10 ring
every time, totaling 500 points each. Winner had to be determined, with the highest X count.
Top score went to Mark Walter with 500-38x, followed by Doug Paschall’s 500-33x. Dale
Avery came in third with 500-28x. Wayne Broome and Ken Kiger unfortunately, found the nine
ring. Shooting these tight scores at 100 yd. is a true accomplishment. We welcome anyone to
come visit or shoot. With practice and equipment anyone can be among the “Cleansweepers”.
29 March Pistol Match: We held four events with 6 shooters participating. The first event was
on paper to get the shooters and their equipment warmed up. The clear winner here was Will
Long with Doug Armstrong and John Hinshaw taking 2nd and 3rd.

The next three events involved shooting at actual bowling pins under a variety of scenarios.
One of the day's highlights came with Doug breaking out his S&W .500 revolver and wiping out
5 bowling pins with 5 rds. That fireworks display was worth the trip to the range in itself.
There’s nothing like seeing a bowling pin go through the back wall!
Dick Williams won the speed event with a 10mm S&W revolver and John Hinshaw won the man
to man event in a hard-fought battle with Will Long...those pesky pins have a way of making all
of us humble at times.
Congratulations to Will Long using his 1911 .45 to take the top spot as the overall match winner
today.
Next match: Saturday, 26 April at 2:00PM will probably be a steel plate shoot.
5 April .22 Rimfire Benchrest: Wow! Great turnout! We had 21 shooters participate on a cool
rainy day. Frank Wagoner and his transportation service had prior commitments. Our parking
area was rather full and the “Coop” was warm. Folks were saying, “love the indoor range”.

Connolly Lahr shot the highest score with 997-38x, followed by Eric Garrison’s 995-28x.
Kenyon Harris came in third with a 994-27x. Our high Junior was Josh Endicott 960-41x,
followed by Aaron Wagoner’s 946-9x. Dylan Reavis shot third with 931-11x. A Big Thank You
to Doug Armstrong, who ran the line and Don Sutton and Bob Beaver who kept scores. Lots of
fun, really competitive shooting and tight scores.
19 April Centerfire Benchrest: Spring has sprung at the "Coop". We had six competitors turn
out, along with many visitors. By 8:15 folks arrived to get ready for serious shooting. The
scores were tight and over half hit the 10 ring every time. We had to determine the winner by X
count again. Doug Paschall had top score with 500-38x, followed by Mark Walter's 500-34x.
Dale Avery came in third with 497-24x with Wayne Broome close behind shooting 497-16x.
Ken Kiger had 495-16x. Joe Teeter shot consistent 10 rings every time but had to leave early.
Big thank you to Doug Armstrong, who shared the fun with Bob Beaver running a fast
competitive match.

                                        Range Safety
Bullets In Berm (BIB) Everyone should feel and be safe around our range. We have public,
state road, farm fields, deer stands, and homes behind our range berms. It is extremely important,
to be a responsible shooter. Each member is responsible for every bullet they fire and actions of
their guests. Ranges are becoming harder to find and keep. Never give anyone ammunition
towards forfeiting your shooting rights.
Rimfire Shooters Please Note: If you are
shooting rimfire from the benches, be sure to
set up the steel backstops at 50 yards, to avoid
ricochets off the floor. Then stow them out of
the line of fire afterwards, so they don’t get
shot by centerfire shooters.
Please report any damage you see, so we can
fix it. Call Bob Beaver 336-889-2772.

     Support NRA and GRNC!
While supporting our local club is important
towards protecting Second Amendment
Rights, it is also important to remember what
GRNC has done. Thanks to them we have NC
concealed carry rights. Send them a check or Note the COOP in the lower right
drop off $20.00 at their gun show booth. Note the deer lanes, fields, roads and homes
                                                       downrange beyond the berms!
The NRA is our major gun rights advocate on
a national basis. They support many educational programs, shooting events and provide
assistance to local clubs through insurance, range development, and shooting teams. Have you
renewed your NRA membership?
