Is It Rude?
So saturday I go to my boyfriends house and he was helping his mom on the
computer for about the first 30 minutes I was there which was not a big deal. While
helping his mother he received a phone call from a friend that he went to college with,
but since he was busy he let it go to voicemail.
So once he was finished with his mother he said that he was gonna make a call "real
quick". So he calls the guy and begins to talk. Five minutes go by, 10 minutes go by,
15 minutes go by, finally 25 minutes go by and he finally gets off the phone. At this
point he knows that I'm annoyed that he was on the phone that long completely
ignoring me and he tries to break the ice by play fighting and saying in a "playing" way
"I'm Sorry". I am flustered and it just annoyed me more that he sees no problem with
what he did so I tell him your rude and since you ignored me for 25 minutes I'm gonna
do that to you and see how you like it.
So for the next 25 minutes I sat there and I ignored him. Be it I know that its childish,
I was pissed. So by me not saying anything to him, he in turned got mad at me and
began to ignore me. So we are sitting there not saying anything to each other and
when we finally decide to go get some food i go with him in order to talk.
In the car I tell him that I think that it was very rude for him to carry on a 25 minute
conversation with someone while I'm there. I think that there is a better time and place
to carry on a conversation that long.
I'd like to know : whether I am overreacting by saying that carrying on a conversation
for 25 minutes while your girlfriend/boyfriend is there ok or if it is in fact rude?
