* Indoor: Includes undercabinet and stair lights (ENERGY STAR linears must be T8 or smaller) excludes appliance lights and portables. ** Outdoor: Includes flood lights (ENERGY STAR flood lights must be fluorescent) excludes landscape and solar lighting. *** Ceiling Fans: The fixture count method requires the fan to be rated ENERGY STAR (motor and blades) as well as the light kit (if a kit is installed).
QUALITY
ENERGY STAR qualified CFLs and pin-based CFL fixtures have to meet stringent criteria for quality and efficiency. Electronic ballasts eliminate the flicker and buzz associated with fluorescent lighting of the past. ENERGY STAR CFL fixtures also carry 2-year bulb and 3-year ballast warranties.

CONSIDERATIONS
Some CFLs are specially rated for low temperature outdoor applications.; Do not install CFLs in fixtures controlled by motion sensors; Reflector CFLs should not extend beyond the can trim; Enclosed Fixture CFLs must be used in completely enclosed fixtures; Dimmable CFLs must be used in fixtures operated by wall plate dimmers.

LEDs will be eligible for ENERGY STAR qualification September 30, 2008.
Bulb Color • The warm white, 2700° Kelvin has proven to be the most widely accepted option for consumers because it most closely matches incandescent light. • “Daylight” and “Full Spectrum” bulbs are not recommended for general lighting and are better suited as task or reading lights.
