Terms and Conditions
Study holiday activities
Study holidays may include an amount of walking, sometimes over unevenly
paved streets, hillsides or steps. You may choose to opt out of activities if you
feel you are unable to undertake an element of physical activity. Whilst we will
not be able to offer alternative visits we will endeavour to provide you with
information. Any cost incurred by you will be additional to the cost of your
holiday and will not be provided or funded directly by us.
The cost does not include:
Travel insurance, gratuities for service provided on a personal basis, lunches,
travel to or from the designated hotel or any travel or visits you may wish to
undertake outside of our itinerary.
All rooms will be en-suite, although not all may have in-room refreshments
available. You may wish to check with the hotel when making your reservation
whether the en-suite has bath or shower or both. Some of our accommodation
is in ‘listed’ hotels and may not have lifts etc. Please check with the hotel
direct that the accommodation will meet your needs before booking. We
cannot accept responsibility for accommodation which does not meet your
needs on arrival. Any relevant information around access is provided in the

and we will do our best to provide these for you. We cannot, however,
guarantee to comply with your request.
The WEA has a policy of respecting the rights and privacy of our guests.
We ask for your name, address, telephone number and email for the purpose
of communicating with you about your holiday. We will NOT pass your details
on to third parties, list brokers etc.
The information you have provided will be held in accordance with the Data
Protection Act, and for payment of a small fee, you may obtain a report
detailing all the information that this organisation holds about you.
From time to time, WEA Northumbria Holidays would like to inform you of
other study holidays which may interest you. When you book a holiday, you
have the option of choosing whether or not you want to be included on our

There is a no smoking policy on all coaches and places of interest visited as
part of a WEA Northumbria Holiday in accordance with Government
Whilst participating in a WEA Holiday you are covered for accidents; however
WEA Northumbria holidays advises that you consider taking out insurance
cover for your holiday against cancellation, delays due to travel issues etc.
Limit of liability
WEA Northumbria Holidays acknowledges responsibility for the correct
description of services offered in this brochure. Only limited responsibility for
the services offered by coaches, hotels and other suppliers can be accepted
by WEA. No responsibility is accepted for loss or expenses due to sickness,
weather, strikes, war, negligence or other causes.
Changes by WEA Northumbria Holidays
At the time of publication all information in our brochure has been checked
and is, to the best of our knowledge, correct. However, for reasons beyond
our control, changes may need to be made to hotels, programmes or our
subject specialists. We therefore reserve the right to amend or alter a study
holiday programme but will endeavour to provide something of equal value
and interest. We cannot guarantee that itineraries and programmes will be
followed as published.
Cancellation by customers
Should you have to cancel your study holiday, you should notify us in writing
immediately. The scale of cancellation charges is calculated according to the
number of days prior to the holiday that notice is received by us.
More than 70 days 50% deposit
69-29 days 50% of total holiday cost
28 days or less 100% of total holiday cost
Cancellation by WEA Northumbria Holidays
There has to be a minimum number of participants on a study holiday to make
it viable, and if this is not reached we reserve the right to cancel the holiday.
In this case there would be a full refund of all payments made, and notification
of cancellation would be at least 4 weeks before the holiday date. If
cancellation is necessitated through force majeur – such as Acts of Nature,
war, invasion, act of foreign enemies, hostilities (whether war is declared or
not) we shall refund the portion of payment made to us by guests that has not
been committed irrecoverably by us to the holiday. However, we can be under
no liability to you in such cases.
Complaints and disputes
If you have a complaint, WEA Northumbria Holidays must receive notification
in writing not later than 28 days after the end of the study holiday.
WEA Northumbria Holidays
1. To make a booking
Please complete the booking form - enclosed with this brochure – and return it
to WEA Northumbria Holidays at the address below. Provisional bookings
may be made by telephone/e-mail/fax but must be confirmed by a completed
booking form and deposit within one week.

A £100 per person deposit is required for all holidays, to be paid directly to the

Full payment is due four weeks prior to holiday commencement.
WEA Northumbria Holidays offers an ‘early bird’ discount for holidays booked
and paid for in full at least 8 weeks before the date of the holiday – check the
brochure for details.
An itinerary and practical information will be sent to you in good time before
the commencement of the holiday, together with a list of useful reading
materials and information about the area.
