A Newsletter Publication of the Niagara Tenpin Bowling Association………………..volume 2 issue 2
The Hall of Fame in the Niagara area is to honour, pay tribute and perpetuate the names of the
members who have contributed to the growth and welfare of tenpin bowling in our association
through their bowling achievements or meritorious service, even if posthumously.
This year there was 4 extraordinary ladies inductees into the Hall of Fame this past March at Cataract Bowl.
Marj Hicks, Charlotte Konkle, Gail Navarroli and Sharon Walsh. All were inducted for Meritorious Service.
CHARLOTTE was a member of NPWBA since its beginning in Niagara in 1979. She served as second vice president
and became President in 86/87 and served in this position until March of ’91 and then again was elected as Presi-
dent in 1996 and served in this position until the jointed association was formed. Charlotte was founder/chairperson
of the NPWBA Champagne Tournament for 10 years, a CTF delegate for 10 years and a WIBC delegate 10 years.
Charlotte served on all committees in the NPWBA. She served as director of OPWBA 14 years, held office of vice
president for 1 year and on several committees. Charlotte was on the transition committee when NTBA was formed
and is currently serving as the vice president as well as being on several committees.
Charlotte also serves on the Ontario Tenpin BA and was elected president this season. She has been OTBA Ontario
Seniors Tournament chairperson for 3 years and was chairperson for the 2008 Provincial Championship Tournament
held here in Niagara. Charlotte also is a life member of NPWBA and NTBA.
MARJ become a member of the women’s association (NPWBA) in 1985. Secretary in 1985 and served in this posi-
tion and as secretary/treasurer for eighteen years. Along with this position she was also tournament director for their
annual tournament. Marj bowled in three leagues and also the local travel league and ladies travel league, holding
executive positions on all leagues. She was a Ontario Provincial WBA director for eight years and secretary for 4
years. Marj was delegate at 10 WIBC conventions and in 1999 had the honour of carry the Canadian Flag into the
convention in Indianapolis. She was on the transition committee in 2003 when the women, men and youth become
one association and joined CTF. Marj is also a life member of NPWBA and NTBA.
She is currently a NTBA director and chair of several committees and this fall become a director of the OPTBA.
GAIL was among the original members of NPWBA and served as their Sargent of Arms for a total of 16 years. She
served on all committees of NPWBA. Gail was secretary of two ladies leagues Tuesday and Thursday at Cataract
Bowl and was NPWBA’s first and only Secretary of the Year. Gail was instrumental along with others in starting the
Junior program at Cataract and coached and ran this league for many years.
One other thing Gail was known for was getting bowlers together and arranging for bus trips to various tournaments
both National and Provincial, always with amusing incidents. Sadly we lost an active and supportive member when
Gail passed away in 2003.
SHARON was also among the original members of NPWBA and served as President for four years. She also served
on all committees and was only one of four members who participated all 25 NPWBA Local Tournaments. Sharon
has bowled at Fairview Lanes in the Wednesday Night Ladies League and served as their President for numerous
years. She also bowled on the Ladies Travel League.
Sharon was the driving force behind NPTBA’s fund raising for many years. Sharon attended 8 WIBC national con-
ventions and is a life member of NPWBA and NTBA.

Watch your Ball Cross
that Mark
It doesn't matter whether you focus on a mark,
or on an area of the lane, as long as you focus
on something. "Hold that pose" until your ball
crosses over that mark, this will ensure that you
are not rushing out of your approach.
