Strong neutron transfer coupling in the fusion of the 18O + 92Mo system. E. Crema, D. S. Monteiro, R. F. Simões, J. M.B. Shorto, L. K. Ono, N. Added. Departamento de Física Nuclear da Universidade de São Paulo - São Paulo - Brazil Precise quasi-elastic scattering excitation functions have been measured for the systems 16,18 92 O+ Mo at energies near the Coulomb barrier. In order to obtain a representation of the fusion barrier distributions, the quasi-elastic excitation functions have been differentiated with respect to energy by using the point difference approximation with small steps in energy. The experimental representation of the barrier distributions were compared with coupled channel 16 92 calculations and good agreement was obtained in both cases. In the O + Mo system the quadrupole and octupole vibrations of the target are the most important channels in the coupling 18 scheme. However, the more complex barrier distribution in the system O + 92Mo seems to be due to a strong coupling of the one-neutron stripping channel with the relative motion degree of freedom. On the other hand, according to our calculations, there is some evidence that the two- neutron stripping and the quadrupole vibration of the target channels should be also included in the coupling scheme of this complex system.
