Seven friends with seven shovels: Seven Grade 10 students at Bev Facey Community High School in Sherwood Park, Alta., raised more than $500 for victims of Haiti's earthquake on Jan. 31 . The girls went door to door offering to clear snow in exchange for donations to the Red Cross. "We have a group that gets together for girls nights once a month. We used the same group to do something good for Haiti," Tara Bergen, left, said. Sister Kathleen, centre, added that people were "kind of surprised, but a lot of people were open to us and thanked us - We were received graciously. It was really rewarding. I didn't think we'd raise that much money." The Bergen sisters attend First Mennonite Church in Edmonton. Also pictured from left to right: Sydney Munsterman, Kennedy Anderson and Heather Fraser. "Your gift . . . will have a real impact on survivors of this horrific event, and your generosity will bear witness that the people of Haiti have not been forsaken in their hour of need."
