Layering is the addition of throws, pillows, art, and accessories to the basic layer of furniture. It makes a room feel very full. You can have a sisal rug and add a cowhide rug on top. You can have a mixed art group but one that is tied together by color or theme that makes sense. Framed images of natural curiosities and graphic prints can mix if the colors flow. It is not just randomly filling a room with stuff.I love TJ Maxx. And I have gotten some pieces at Eyedia. I love a good bargain. But I am a firm believer in if you love it and have to have it it doesn't matter if it is $6 or $600. It's just.. .what are you willing to pay for it?Editing their spaces. People are afraid to get rid of things. They will have shelves full of 400 pictures of the family. All In different style frames. Now about we get it down to the three or four you would really love to display. I have clients make three piles: things they know they can get rid of; a 'maybe I can get rid of it' stack; and. an 'I have to keep this" pile. We can go from there. You can have a lot of things but please love them all.
