Reading the documents in their entirety, along with the commentaries, is the most comprehensive approach, but is probably beyond a reasonable project for a one-semester undergraduate course. While unlikely to lead directly to profound new insights into the meaning of the tradition, it is guaranteed to facilitate teaching the basic elements of Catholic social thought.
