Subject: BASD Parent Portal

Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new school year! We are very excited once again to have the Sapphire Parent Portal
available to you, allowing you to easily access information about your child’s academic
performance, as well as other aspects of his/her education, via the Internet.

If you previously signed up for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and created an account for
yourself last year, you need to take no further action this year. You will keep the same PIN and
account for your child(ren) attending this school. To access the Parent Portal, you will visit the
following location: https://sapphire.k12system.com/parentportal/Welcome.cfm. Asa first time
user, log on the previous address. A pop-up screen asking you to select a district will appear. Type
in the keyword, “bears”, in the space and click “continue”. Next, a Sapphire Parent Portal User
Agreement will appear. Click “yes” that you agree to the policy and click “continue”. Fill out the
application that appears and click “save and print form”. When you complete the form you will
need to print it, sign it, and have your child return it to the main office or mail it to Mrs. Bobbie
Eddinger at the address listed on the form. A notification letter containing a school-generated
personal identification number (PIN) will be e-mailed to you shortly after the form is returned.

If you should have any questions regarding the use of the Parent Portal, please contact Mrs. Bobbie
Eddinger by calling (610-473-3500) or via e-mail at beddinger@boyertownasd.org (this is the contact
person’s e-mail address).

Again, we want to assure you that your child’s privacy is of the utmost importance to us. Access to
information is restricted by a secure log-on, password, and Personal Identification Number (PIN).
Furthermore, the information that is posted to this site is merely a copy of the real information file,
insuring that no one can alter the actual permanent records through this application. The information
that you will be viewing can be updated several times a day by teachers and administrators, so you
will be able to view attendance, for example, on a near real-time basis.

We are very pleased to offer this opportunity to you. Eventually, all BASD schools will have access
to the Parent Portal. You may have one or more children attending another school in the district. If
you have not received a letter from that school regarding Parent Portal, it is safe to assume that this
service has not yet been extended to this particular school.

It is our sincere hope that you will once again find this information useful in promoting your
child’s education.

Sincerely,

Gregory Galtere Principal
