Welcome Letter, 2006
For Parent/Guardian and Students You may wish to print a hard copy I’d like to personally welcome you, and take the first few minutes to provide information to help you get off to a great start. In addition to emailing for basic communication, it is important for you to check our Announcement page when logging in. In some cases, I will be also be phoning you and your parent/guardian just to touch base. Is your PC properly setup and configured to work in an online environment? It is strongly recommended that you test your pc to be sure it can read and play the following file types: Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Word/RTF, Excel, AVI (audio) and MP3 (audio). In order to succeed in an online environment, it is very important that you are consistently, actively involved. You will be required to login and participate at least two times per week. It is also important to understand our Attendance policy, which clearly states that 10 consecutive school days of non-participation can lead to removal or suspension from the class. When you login to our online Management system http://skoclass.org, always take time to read the Announcements; check your E-Mail; check the Assessment/Gradebook; and remember that the “Course Home” is the direct link to all your lessons. Parent/Guardian and Student. I would recommend you and your son/daughter work on the first required lesson together. After you login with your assigned username and password, select Course Home and begin the Orientation lesson. The Orientation lesson will introduce you to our school; determine your strengths and weaknesses for working online; and provide information on our school policies and procedures.
It is worth noting at this time that the parent/guardian is encouraged to login frequently and check the progress and current grade of your student. When word processing, we strongly recommend you use Microsoft Word (not Works); or Wordpad (which comes free with every pc). If you have Word Perfect or Microsoft Works, you must save your work as an RTF file or nobody will be able to read it. Please feel free to E-Mail me or call during working hours, and I will make an attempt to get back to you the same day. I'm hoping to see everyone complete this first "Orientation" lesson within the first week of their enrollment. Happy computing, and good luck.
