Etiquette and Guidelines for Krav Maga Seminars Participants
8th May - 10th May 2009
The following is a guide to basic Martial Arts etiquette. The guidelines are similar in
most if not all Martial Arts schools worldwide. Proper observance of etiquette is as much
a part of your training as is learning techniques. Martial Arts and general training
etiquette and rules are not empty formalities but rather serve to create conditions essential
to good training and mutual respect between student and teacher. Respect your partner.
Learn to control your actions to avoid injury. Remember that you are here to learn. In
order to ensure smooth flow of the event, please do read the guidelines carefully:
General
Punctuality - Be on time for your class (10 - 15 minutes earlier is advised) in order to
assist in the preparation / registration process.
Appropriate Attire – Clean, comfortable sportswear / Gi Pants or Tracksuit Pants/T-Shirts
are recommended as well as long pants with no pockets, strings or lose decorations. No
shorts. Traditional Martial Arts Gi NOT needed.
Footwear – Mat footwear. No outdoor footwear in the venue and on mats please.
Food – Please do not eat or bring food, gum, or beverages with you onto the mat. Water
might be provided on the venue, but bring your own to avoid disappointment.
Facilities - Toilets & Shower facility available in seminar premises.
Jewelry – For safety reasons, remove watches, rings and other jewelry (e.g., necklaces &
chains, earrings) before practice. Please also avoid bringing any unnecessary valuable
items. The Organisers will not be liable for their safe keeping.
Protective Equipment - Groin Guard/Breast Protectors/Gym Shield recommended but not
absolutely necessary.
Personal Hygiene – Open wounds should be covered hands and toenails clipped. Long
hair should be tied back. Maintain clean & fresh personal hygiene.
Household Rules – Please abide by Venue’s household rules as well as rules imposed by
Instructor.
