has once again put up the “Awareness Tree” in the cafeteria to Val Saintsbury
celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness. The tree is decorated in
pink and white lights; ribbons made by the staff resemble the
“pink” awareness ribbons. Cards are placed on the ribbons
where staff, faculty and students write down a victim or survivor
of breast cancer. The tree remains up for the month of October.
Demonstrations are given in the Nursing Skill and Simulation
Laboratories to show women and men how to check for breast
cancer; information packets are available; demonstration on
simulated breasts to feel for lumps are available for hands-on
evaluation; pink ribbons and goodies are available to show your
support. Nursing students from the program volunteer their time
to help in educating those interested in learning more. Anyone
interested in further information, please contact Marianne
Schubert, BSN, CEN on ext. 4959.
