North Suburban Region
• A.A.S in Merchandising Management
• B.A. in Merchandising Management
The International Academy of Design and Technology-Schaumburg, and its parent
company, Career Education Corporation, respectfully inform the Illinois Board of Higher
Education of its intent to offer the Associates of Applied Science and the Bachelor of Arts in
Merchandising Management.
The Associate of Applied Science and the Bachelor of Arts in Merchandising
Management have already been approved for the Chicago campus by the IBHE and ACICS.
The Merchandising Management curriculum is designed to provide students with a broad
knowledge of business and how business principles relate to the various fashion and retail fields.
The program combines theoretical elements with practical applications supported by a strong
general education foundation. Students can choose from two concentrations; Fashion
Merchandising or Retail Operations Management. The Fashion Merchandising concentration is
designed for someone who will specialize in apparel and accessories, fashion or accessories
buyer, image consulting, or fashion business entrepreneur. The Retail Operations Management
concentration is a more general business program with a focus on careers in corporate retail or
retail operations such as general operations management, retail property management, regional or
district management.
Students in this program may achieve advanced standing by proficiency or by transfer of
credits from an accredited institution. The proficiency or transfer credit must be applicable to the
student’s program of study at the school. In addition, students with extensive experience in a
specific subject area may seek credit for life experience in up to two classes. Mitigating
circumstances may allow additional life experience at the approval of the program chairs.
Requests for additional information about the institution and its proposed programs
should be directed to: Cord Scott, 915A National Parkway, Schaumburg, IL 60173. Telephone:
(847) 969-2837. E-mail: cscott@iadtschaumburg.com.
