Sample Building Successful Partnerships Letter to the Editor
To The Editor: An important new resource is available in our community for parents, teachers, community members, and school administrators. Called “Building Successful Partnerships,” this is workshop available at no charge through (State) PTA. PTA leader Sue Smith has been trained by National PTA to present material that is designed to help families, schools, and communities work more effectively together. Research repeatedly shows that the number one predictor of student success is the involvement of a parent or significant adult in that child’s life. The workshop incorporates the National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs developed by National PTA in 1997. Smith will tailor her presentation to meet the needs of specific groups. An overview summary takes about 15 minutes, or a detailed presentation may be presented as a full workshop taking anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours, depending on the topic and the group’s timeframe. Overheads, handouts, and interactive exercises are included to help participants understand the value of working together to benefit students. Contact Smith at :___________ for more information.
