Procedure: Teacher Instruction: Distribute copies of Lesson 6 Handout 1 – Summative Assignment Part 1 – Storyboarding a Short Film. Read the handout with the whole class, pausing to check for understanding at the end of each Part. At the end of Part A, project the following website and look up the words “analyse” and “synthesize” in this visual thesaurus. Discuss their understanding of these words and what they will need to do for this project. http://www.visuwords.com/ At the end of Part B, have students brainstorm the purpose of short films. Ask them to identify the audience for each type. (They should not make the “teacher” as the audience.) Distribute copies of the Storyboard Templates. When students have nearly completed the Summative Storyboard for a Short Film, distribute copies of Lesson 6 Checklist 1. (You may want students to hand this in with the summative product and give process marks or Learning Skills may be associated with this checklist.) Distribute copies of Lesson 6 Handout 3 - Summative Assignment Part 2 – Writing a Reflection on Learning about Short Film and review the task with the whole class. Check for understanding. When students have completed the Written Reflection, distribute copies of Lesson 6 Checklist 2. (You may want students to hand this in with the summative product and give process marks, or Learning Skills may be associated with this checklist.) Distribute copies of the Evaluation Rubrics when appropriate. Differentiation: Where possible, students can film their storyboards. Appendix A and B provide camera and editing guides.
