This is to confirm the understandings and agreements upon which I am recommending to the Central School District Board of Education that your probationary period as a Teacher be extended beyond its normal expiration date of , for a period of up to one year, until . This recommendation is based upon the following: 1. You are aware of concerns of the Administration, as expressed both orally and in evaluations performed during the school year regarding your performance as a probationary teacher. Your probationary period will be extended to provide you the opportunity to increase and refine your teaching skills to a performance level consistent with those expected of a tenured teacher of the Central School District. The voluntary extension of your probationary period does not imply or promise that you will be recommended for, or receive, tenure in the future or that you have received tenure in any other manner. The Board of Education reserves the right, pursuant to Section 3031 of the Education Law, to terminate your probationary to or to grant you appointment during the period from tenure at an earlier date. During the additional period mentioned above, your overall performance will continue to be evaluated in order to arrive at a final decision regarding tenure. You accept the additional probationary period and agree to waive the right to claim, in any and all forums including, but not limited to, grievances and all appeals before the Commissioner of Education, that your working beyond the expiration of your original probationary appointment constitutes, or results in, your acquisition of tenure by estoppel, acquiescence or any other means. This agreement is entirely voluntary and you have been afforded the right to representation by the Teacher's Association. By executing this letter agreement where noted below, you and the Association (through its representatives) are agreeing that this extension of your probationary period is based upon unique and compelling circumstances and that it will not be deemed, in any fashion

whatsoever, as an admission of any wrongdoing on the part of the District or to have any precedental value for any future decisions concerning the recommendation for, or denial of, tenure to any other probationary teacher employed by this District. If you agree to all of the above, please sign this letter agreement where noted below, as an indication of your understanding and agreeing to the terms and conditions of the extension of your probationary appointment.
