Dear Teacher:

We are the parents of Child who is a # grade student in Teacher’s class.

We thank you for your efforts and hard work to educate our child. She/He is learning a lot and
progressing well in your class. We understand that, beside a great education, you also provide
opportunities to our child to learn about several cultural activities that she/he may not be able to
experience from other resources. In the upcoming holiday season she/he would learn a lot about
holidays celebrated among various cultures in the United States, such as Christmas, Hanukkah
and others.

This has encouraged us to share our cultural heritage with her/his classmates, the holidays of Eid
and the Fasting month of Ramadan. These activities are celebrated and cherished by over six
million American-Muslim community in this country and also by over 1.2 Billion Muslims all
over the world. The fasting month of Ramadan started on September 23rd and Eid al-Fitr, the
Festival of Breaking the Fast, was celebrated on October 23rd of this year. The third prominent
festival, Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, will be celebrated on or about December 31st.

To this end, we would like to request your support and assistance to make a short presentation to
her/his class about Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. At that time, our child would also like to share an
activity book with her classmates which, we are sure, would add a pleasant learning experience to
them. We are planning to make this presentation in a couple of weeks best suited to your class
schedule. We are enclosing a Fact Sheet for Educators about these festivals and the Child Activity
Book for your information.
