                       CULINARY ARTS BAKING and PASTRY INSTRUCTOR
                               FULL TIME CONTRACT, NON-TENURE TRACK (10 MONTHS)
                        Categorically Funded Position under the Regional Occupational Program (ROP)

The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is accepting letters of application for this academic position located at Grossmont
College. While the current vacancy exists at Grossmont College, applicants should understand that they are subject to assignment to any
District facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
    Any bachelor's degree and two years of experience in Culinary Arts OR any associate degree and six years of
    experience in Culinary Arts OR
    A current California Community College Credential that permits full time service as a Culinary Arts Instructor; OR
    The equivalent. If you are applying based on “the equivalent”, you must complete a Full-Time Academic Equivalency

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS – Applicants must demonstrate:
1. Academic preparation for, or successful experience in, teaching culinary arts courses at the community college or university level.
2. Ability to work effectively and professionally with colleagues.
3. Skills and experience to motivate students from a broad spectrum of cultural, socioeconomic, and language backgrounds.
4. Evidence of a strong commitment to remain current in culinary arts and its instructional program.
5. Applicants must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and
   ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
6. Ability to become involved in the furtherance of departmental and campus affairs.
7. Knowledge of significant historical trends in the history of baking and pastry.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will also be evaluated for qualifications in the following:
1. Preparation to develop a computer assisted curriculum, to use computer technology in an instructional setting and a willingness to
   assume leadership in this task.
2. An ability to prepare funding proposals for instructional and culinary arts projects to be submitted to external funding sources.
3. Ability to prepare curriculum appropriate to the demands of a diverse student population.
4. Experience in creating, planning, and implementing outreach programs for those interested in baking and pastry.
5. Evidence of involvement with community related projects in the public interest, such as participating in liaison and outreach
   activities with high schools, transfer institutions and the community.
6. Practicing baking and pastry chef with a professional portfolio, plus evidence of a strong commitment to remain current in the
   baking and pastry industry for both the growth of the individual and the instructional program.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for preparing and completing Regional Occupational Program (ROP) attendance, competency assignments, and
supporting the ROP program, regular/contract instructors participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational
programs, courses and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of
the visions, missions and values of the college and District. This position may include a combination of day, evening and weekend
assignments, large lectures and small seminars, and is being offered by a college strongly committed to the “open door” concept
serving a diverse student population. Instructors will be expected to perform other duties consistent with their faculty job description as
stated in the faculty contract.

INITIAL SALARY PLACEMENT RANGE:                 $39,058 - $57,813/Yr. per negotiated agreement
SALARY SCHEDULE RANGE:                          $39,058 (Class I, Step 1) - $83,063 (Class VII, Step 30)/Yr. per negotiated agreement

Initial placement is based upon academic preparation from an accredited college or university and professional experience. A
maximum of three (3) years of professional work experience may be granted upon review and approval. Placement will not be granted
for hourly, part-time, practice, or cadet teaching. Candidates are encouraged to contact the District Employment Services Department
for a copy of the salary schedule which includes placement provisions.

STARTING DATE: January 17, 2006 (Contingent on available funding for 2005-2006 academic year)
                       Successful completion of a pre-placement physical will be required for the candidate recommended.
