Workplace Connect is a Group Training Company. It is the largest employer of
apprentices and trainees in the western region. Workplace Connect’s role is to employ
apprentices and trainees and "hire" them out to companies for the term of their
apprenticeship or traineeship and remains the employer throughout the apprenticeship
or traineeship.
Traineeships for young people with a disability: Young people with disabilities can
access traineeship and apprenticeship opportunities, funded by state government and
other organisations through, Workplace Connect.

Youth Transition Support Initiative
Youth Transition Support Initiative is to assist young people who have left school
early into sustainable education, training or employment.

Youth Pathways (YP)
YP helps 14-19 year olds to make the transition from school to work by providing
advice and information about work options, job-seeking skills, preparing for
interviews, resumes and other support. It also provides information about courses,
apprenticeships and literacy and numeracy skills.
The YP program is hosted by Westgate Community Initiatives Group (WCIG) in
Wyndham and Hobsons Bay.
Young people with a disability: YP is also an access point to employment services
and training for young people with a disability.

Teenage Holiday Program - 9932 3000
Holiday programs are open to young people from year 7 to year 12 (or aged between
12-17 years). Four activities are offered every school holidays and 6 activities over
the summer school holiday period. The teenage holiday program aims to offer young
people activities at a reduced cost. Surfing, skateboarding, fishing, movies, bowling
and ice-skating are examples of activities that may be available

Scope
TNO (Thursday Night Out) is an excursion based recreation program for young
people aged 12-17 and is offered fortnightly on Thursdays during school terms.
Activities can include movie trips, bowling, Galactic Circus and go karting.

Freeza Program
'Freeza', Hobsons Bay Youth Services runs local band and dance party events
throughout the year. These events are organised by the Kaos Committee; a committee
of local young people who are interested in learning about the behind the scenes
components required to stage a band or dance party event. The committee meets once
a week and is chaired by Council's Youth and Community Support Officer.

Youth Voice
The Youth Voice Committee (YVC) are responsible for allocating $15,000 for youth
projects in Hobsons Bay.

The overall goal of the program is to empower young people by giving them an
opportunity to be involved in the decision making process and ensuring services meet
the needs of young people. The YVC also aims to create positive outcomes for other
young people in the community. It is also anticipated that committee members will
experience an increase in self-esteem, confidence and leadership skills that will assist

in their future careers.

Counselling for Young People
The sessions are free and confidential and may involve short to medium term
counselling.

You can access this service if you live, work or study in Hobsons Bay and are aged
between 12-25 years.

Support for Young People
Hobsons Bay Youth Services provides a range of support-based programs and
services to young people. These programs focus on a variety of issues that include
self-esteem, drug and alcohol issues, relationships, bullying and anger management.
This type of support may include assisting young people in accessing Centrelink,
local health service providers or linking them into employment or education
opportunities.

Proud
Proud is a confidential social support group for young people who are same sex
attracted, gay, lesbian, queer, bisexual and/or transgender. Proud is open to young
people 21 years and under living in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne.

Be Yourself Program
