INTRODUCTION This position is located in the Clerk’s Office of the Tucson Division of the District of Arizona and reports to the Chief Deputy Clerk in the Tucson Division. The incumbent in this position technically and administratively supervises employees in accomplishing the functions of the operations section of the Tucson divisional office and develops, advises and evaluates on the effectiveness of work methods and procedures in the operations section. OCCUPATIONAL INFORMATION This position supervises and directs all aspects of scanning, electronic filing, and quality assurance, including planning and assigning work to subordinates, reviewing work and conducting performance appraisals, and participating in employment interviews. The incumbent in this position develops methods for accomplishing the work of the office and coordinates the work of the office with other governmental agencies and court units; advises executive management, judicial officers and their staffs, operations staff, and other court agencies in the formulation, implementation, and assessment of operations practices, policies and procedures; and recommends proposed changes to enhance the overall capability and productivity of the total organization. Other duties include acting as disbursement officer authorizing payment or signing of government checks and vouchers, managing district-wide projects as assigned, and participating in the oversight of automation projects. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The successful applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to work at the CL-24 level. Specialized experience is progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience requiring the regular and recurring application of clerical procedures that demonstrate the ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives, or laws and involve the routine use of specialized terminology and automated software and equipment for word processing, data entry or report generation. Such experience is commonly encountered in law firms, legal counsel offices, banking and credit firms, educational institutions, social service organizations, insurance companies, real estate and title offices, and corporate headquarters or human resources/payroll operations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to applicants who have: • At least three years of supervisory operations experience in a court or legal office, preferably in a federal court. • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or public administration or court management. • Skill in using applicable automated systems, including electronic case filing, and with current versions of WordPerfect, Lotus Notes and Windows. • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
