CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT AND HOME HEALTH AIDE COURSES
PRESS RELEASE
LEESBURG (Sept. 2, 2008) - Lake-Sumter Community College’s popular Certified
Nursing Assistant course will be offered on both its Leesburg and South Lake
campuses starting September 16. The series runs Mondays through Fridays until
November 13, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
CNA curriculum includes procedures for caring for patients; basic anatomy and
physiology; age-related changes in the body; first aid; HIV / AIDS; computer training;
domestic violence and CPR. Students will be required to have a background check the
first day of class and must have a PPD (Tuberculosis) test prior to the off-campus
training. Once the 125-hour classroom sessions and onsite clinical training are
completed, students will be eligible to take the State Examination for Certification.
Cost of the course is $599. However, there are Booth Scholarships available to qualified
applicants that not only cover tuition, but also the required uniform, the certification
exam, and some traveling and childcare expenses. To discuss scholarship opportunities

Certified Nursing Assistants needing to supplement their training to work in home health
services can take the 20-hour required Home Health Aide class starting on September
15. It meets Mondays and Tuesdays through September 29 on the Leesburg Campus,
from 5:30 until 9:30 p.m. Cost of the course is $99.
