Instructions for Creating a BAR Graph using EXCEL 2007
1) Open an Excel spreadsheet
2) Enter your data into
a. Column A goes to the horizontal axis (X‐axis – Independent V.)
b. Column B (and C if you have a double bar graph) goes to the vertical axis
(Y‐axis – Dependent V.)
3) Choose your graph
a. Highlight all your data in all columns
b. Click on the “Insert” tab
c. Click on “Column” in the Charts menu
d. From the drop down menu choose
which kind of bar graph you want
Complete your graph with appropriate labels, etc.
4) Title
a. Click on the outer edge of the graph
(edge becomes light blue double line as shown)
b. Click on “Layout” tab
c. Click on “Chart Title” in the Labels menu
d. From the drop down menu choose where you want your title
e. Type in your title in the box which pops into place

5) Label the axes
a. Click on the outer edge of the graph
(so edge becomes light blue double line)
b. Click on “Layout” tab
c. Click on “Axes Titles” in the Labels menu
d. Put the cursor on “Primary Horizontal Axis Title”
e. Make your choice from the drop down menu
f. Type your label for the horizontal axis in the box
Repeat the steps for the vertical axis
a. Click on the outer edge of the graph
(so edge becomes light blue double line)
b. Click on “Layout” tab
c. Click on “Axes Titles” in the Labels menu
d. Put the cursor on “Primary Vertical Axis Title”
e. Make your choice from the drop down menu
f. Type your label for the vertical axis in the box
6) Save the EXCEL file! You can copy and paste this graph into a word document.

Instructions for Creating a LINE Graph using EXCEL 2007
1) Open an Excel spreadsheet
2) Enter your data into
