27 September 2005 Company Announcements Office Australian Stock Exchange Limited 20 Bridge Street SYDNEY NSW 2000 Dear Sir /Madam SECOND WAVE OF NEW RADIOMETRIC URANIUM ANOMALIES IDENTIFIED IN FAR WEST S.A. HIGHLIGHTS • • • • Three new radiometric anomalies identified at the Yarlbrinda Project (EL 3217) in an area of the Gawler Craton in far west South Australia. Anomalies cover 4 square kilometres near modern palaeochannel-type drainage systems. Anomalous airborne radiometric data is a significant 30 times uranium background, indicating a highly anomalous uranium source. New anomalies are in addition to those announced earlier this month some 50 kilometres further to the south within Yarlbrinda South (EL 3160), a project area abutting the southern border of the Yarlbrinda tenement Ground radiometric survey and surface sampling program has been completed at Yarlbrinda South and is now underway to the north on Yarlbrinda project.
•
Three radiometric anomalies have been identified at the Yarlbrinda Project (EL 3217) in the Gawler Craton in South Australia by Southern Uranium Limited, a wholly owned entity of Adelaide-based and ASX-listed gold and base metals explorer, Southern Gold Limited. The assessment by Southern Uranium of an airborne radiometric survey returned readings up to 30 times uranium background indicating the presence of uranium bearing mineralisation.
The three radiometric anomalies cover a total area of 4 square kilometres (km) and are located near modern palaeochannel-type drainage systems draining off the nearby hot Hiltaba Granites and the uranium-rich Gawler Craton (see attached map). The close relationship between the uranium radiometric anomalies and the likely Hiltaba Granite associated uranium source provides a good model for targeting the uranium enriching processes in this area. The new radiometric anomalies are also located only 50 km north of the Company’s Yarlbrinda South (EL 3160) radiometric anomalies in the Narlaby palaeochannel. Southern Uranium accessed the airborne radiometric data for the EL 3217 area from the South Australian Government (PIRSA). The airborne radiometric survey was flown by World Geoscience for PIRSA at 400 metre (m) line spacing, in conjunction with an airborne magnetic survey. This airborne survey also provided the data for the recently announced Yarlbrinda South radiometric anomalies. The Company currently holds 100% of EL 3217 which is held in Joint Venture with Hindmarsh Resources (HMR). Plans Southern Uranium has commenced extra ground radiometric surveys with an associated soil and surface geochemical sampling program over the additional radiometric anomalies identified this week at Yarlbrinda. As a result, The Company has extended the radiometric program initially commenced on Yarlbrinda South, with results anticipated in the coming days. Yours faithfully S BIGGINS
