									    AUTOMOTIVE MAINTENANCE &
   REPAIR TECHNOLOGY PATHWAY
ENTREPRENEURSHIP/   This class is an introductory course designed to peak the interest of any student.
EMPLOYABILITY       Employability competencies range from the various skills needed to compete in
SKILLS              today’s job market to how a student should dress and present themselves in a
1 credit            professional manner. Entrepreneurship competencies will allow the student to take a
                    company concept and work through the details of creating and operating a company.

ENGINE              Students will obtain a basic understanding and development of skills needed to
REBUILDING 10       identify major components of an automobile. Students will have the opportunity to
1 credit            disassemble v-6 and v-8 automobile engines. They will learn the various parts and
                    operation of a car engine. Students will work in other areas like starting, charging and
                    electrical systems. This course is designed to introduce students to a career-technical
                    pathway. It is recommended that this course be taken in sequence for those students
                    who plan to continue in the Automotive Maintenance and Repair pathway.

AUTOMOTIVE          Automotive technology is a compressive program that covers auto and light truck
MAINTENANCE         repair. Students receive training in general shop work which includes safety, engine
AND REPAIR          mechanics, ignition and electrical wiring, tune-ups, drive train repair, brakes systems,
TECHNOLOGY          suspension and steering, heating and air conditioning, wheel alignment and balance.
11/12               Students will learn to use state-of-the-art electronic testing and diagnostic equipment.
4 credits           Career planning and post secondary education options will be presented in order to
                    assist students in reaching their goal in becoming gainfully employed in this field. All
                    students will become members of a student organization and have the opportunity to
                    participate in local, regional and state competitions. (Students may enroll in this
                    program as a College Tech Prep student and be eligible for college credit)
