The Sunday School NEEDS Your Help
We are looking for volunteers to teach in the Sunday School for the 2008-2009 school year. In
particular, we are looking for teachers and assistants for Pre-K/Kindergarten Godly Play. There will
be in-house training for this class for all those interested. We are also looking for teachers for the
1st/2nd grade class which will begin using the Share the Joy curriculum next year. We really need
your help. We would like to have as many teachers available next year as possible so that we can
offer more flexibility to our volunteers and provide the support the Sunday School needs to
accommodate growth. Please, if you would like to volunteer or you think you might be interested
and need more information, do not hesitate to contact Dawn Campbell at 410-672-7565 or email
dcampbell@stannes-annapolis.org.

We Welcome Our Children!
All young children are welcome and encouraged to come to church and to participate fully.
Crayons and coloring pages can be found in baskets at the back of the church, and a large rug is also
located at the back of the church where children may play quietly. We urge parents to feel free to
move about as needed. A children’s liturgy is held during the 9:30 service as well. It is targeted
toward the early elementary and preschool age child, but babes in arms are certainly welcome to
come. If you would like to read to the children one Sunday, please contact Dawn Campbell at 410-
672-7565 or dcampbell@stannes-annapolis.org

                               OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES
Are You Inspired?
The Vestry has given us the green-light for a major Sudan Hospital fund-raiser in September. By
God's Grace the hospital in Werkok in Southern Sudan is growing (look for a forthcoming Tieline
update). But much remains to be done. Are you interested in leadership positions and committee
work? We need you. Come join us! E-mail Carolyn Sullivan at prpeople@comcast.net.

Habitat for Humanity
We are pleased to announce that three wonderful people have come forward to act as
coordinators for St. Anne's participation in the Habitat for Humanity program. They are Alan
Kiepper, Linda Silva, and Ryan Frantz. Be sure to be on the lookout for announcements from them
about when St. Anne's will be assisting in the construction of homes for the needy by Arundel
Habitat.

Light House Shelter Cooking
Members of St. Anne’s cook and serve the evening meal the first Thursday of every month at the
Light House Shelter. Maggie and Vollie Melson along with Katie and Tom Creeley cooked and
served a jambalaya dinner complete with cornbread, salad and, of course, dessert for the guests at
the Light House Shelter on Thursday, April 4. Mary Dierdorff will organize the dinner on May 1 with
the help of Jan Little, Dick Israel, Bill and Linda Silva, and Don and Sue Sullivan. Sharon McElfish is
organizing her foyer group to prepare dinner on June 5 and Judy Olson is planning with her foyer
group to do the honors in August. If you would like to help with the meal on July 3 or have any
questions, call Nancy Greeley at 410-224-2975, or momgreeley @ aol.com

Family Cooking for Shelter
On the third Monday of every month, families join in the parish house kitchen to cook and serve a
dinner for the guests at the Light House Shelter. The next Family Cooking day will be on Monday,
April 21, beginning at 4:30 p.m. For more information, call the Strangs at 410-757-6893, or
dhstrang@comcast.net.

                                 GENERAL INFORMATION
Parish Office Hours
The parish house and parish offices are located at 199 Duke of Gloucester Street. The office hours
are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If you find the front door locked during these
hours, please ring the doorbell/intercom button to the left of the door. A staff member will then be
able to release the door to let you in.

St. Anne’s Website — The Next Generation
St. Anne’s is in the midst of a complete overhaul of its website. The new site will incorporate more
graphics, an easier way to navigate the site, and more information you can use about the church. It
will have easy-to-use online forms, so that we can sign people up for youth events or create an
“online visitor card” where people can tell us about themselves when they visit our website. It will
have a photo gallery where photos of our parish life will be published. It will have a calendar
function, tools to present online video, and much more. We’re excited about this new project, and
appreciate your patience during this period of transition.

St. Anne’s Picture Books
Do you have your picture album of our members yet? If not, they are available to our members at
the Parish Office during the week. All Active members are entitled to one copy per family. Call or
email Ginny Hustvedt at the parish office (410-267-9333, or ghustvedt@stannes-annapolis.org) to
get your copy, or just stop by the office between 8AM and 4PM to pick one up.

Forward Day-By-Day Books
The new Forward Movement Day by Day, covering May through July 2008, is in the tract rack in the
narthex. If you have been a regular reader, you will welcome this current one. If not, why not give it
a try. You’ll be glad you did!

Communications Are Here to Support Your Ministry!
Are you running a program or event at St. Anne's? Do you need help getting the word out to the
Parish or the Community at-large? Communications are here to help. Contact August Deimel
(adeimel@stannes-annapolis.org) to discuss how!

Support St. Anne's Through Your IRA Account
The Pension Protection Act of 2006 gives those at least age 70 1/2 with traditional or Roth IRAs the
opportunity to make tax-free gifts directly to qualified charities like St. Anne's Church. Donors may
find it wise to make gifts from IRA funds that would be subject to tax if withdrawn voluntarily or
under mandatory withdrawal requirements. Transactions must be made before the end of
December. For more information, consult your financial or tax advisor and ask about making
contributions through the Charitable IRA option.

Cursillo Weekend
Please pray for the team and participants for Cursillo Weekend #95, April 24-27. For information
about the Cursillo movement in the Episcopal Church in Maryland, contact Bob Sherer t 410-266-
1334, or Betty Stuart McNulty at 410-268-0561.
                                       PARISH NURSE NEWS
Blood Pressure Sunday is Today
There will be a station at the church following both services for blood pressures, as well as a
station at the parish house following the 9:30 service.

Health Tip: Cancer
In my brief 3 months as your Parish Nurse, I have been struck by the number of parishioners who
are being evaluated or treated for cancer. As a cancer survivor myself, I can relate to how daunting
and frightening the process can be. The American Cancer Society suggests the following steps to
take when you have been diagnosed with Cancer.
1. Research as many options for treatment as you can find. Learn expected benefits, side effects.,
   risks and trade-offs.
2. Make sure your sources of information are reliable. One to consider is www.cancer.gov.
3. Realize that all cancer treatment comes with some degree of uncertainty but being as
informed as you can may result in a better outcome.
Our Parish Nurse, Cindy Steele, can be reached at csteele@stannes-annapolis.org, or 443-534-4684.
If you have questions about what a parish nurse does, or would like to arrange a visit, please give
her a call.

                                             DEADLINES
Bulletin Announcements and Tieline
The deadline for submitting BRIEF Sunday announcements for the bulletin is the preceding
Wednesday morning by 10:00 a.m.

The deadline for the May issue of the Tieline is on Friday, April 11, by 3:00 p.m. Email your articles
to Ginny Hustvedt at ghustvedt@stannes-annapolis.org. Late submissions cannot be accepted.
When emailing, please remember to include your name and phone number in case there is a
question. Mark the subject of the email as “Tieline article”. Email all communication to
ghustvedt@stannes-annapolis.org, or call 410-267-9333, ext. 202.

Website Deadline
The website is updated weekly. The deadline for information to be added to the website is Tuesday
at noon, and information will appear by close of business Wednesday. This is also the deadline for
information to be included in our (approximately) weekly e-mails. For something that might be of
interest to the community, we can put out a press release. However, we generally need two weeks
lead time. That, of course, can be changed if something comes up unexpectedly.

NEED A PRAYER? BE A PRAY-ER! St. Anne’s Prayer Chain Committee offers a parish-wide minis-
try to strengthen our network of prayer support for one another. If you have a specific request
for a prayer, please describe it here, tear off this form and deposit it in the offering plate. If you
would be willing to pray for the needs of a fellow parishioner during the coming week, please
take a form from the narthex or side entrance and hold that request. As always, any request may
be called into the office at 410-267-9333, or Margot Hamill (410-757-2447). Our prayer chain is
an important part of this ministry. If you would like to be a part of this team, call Margot Hamill.
