The following FAQs are provided in response to questions received regarding NPS BAA
Announcement #08-005


Q: Is it necessary to address the Letter of Nomination that accompanies the
white paper to a specific individual?
A: No. However, if you would like to address the letter to a specific
individual, please address the letter to Ms. Teri Jay, Naval Postgraduate
School. The full address for Ms. Jay may be found in the BAA.


Q. What should be included in the white paper letter of nomination
submitted by the highest university official and what should be the length of the letter?
A. --Name of individual faculty member nominated,
   --the topic of the white paper, which is the same as the technical subject category
found in section I.6 Research Opportunity Description of the BAA,
   --commitment from the university to comply with the requirements of the Fellowship,
   --a brief description of the significance of the proposed research in relation to the
frontiers of knowledge in the Proposer's field, and
   --Proposer's overall record of academic and professional accomplishments that make
the applicant an outstanding researcher and deserving of the award.

The length of the letter should not exceed two pages.


Q. Should references be included in the 5-page white paper limit?
A. Yes, but a minimum number of references is adequate at
