The residential construction sector was the main growth driver in Turkey’s construction industry prior to the global credit
crunch. The year 2009 however witnessed the lowest level of demand for the housing units because of the global
downturn and financial crisis. In 2009, the residential construction market experienced the worst hit with 22.5% decline
