Program Description
The Internet Design and Technology Certificate program will prepare students for numerous career opportunities in web design and development.
They start out with the basics of web and graphic design technologies to form a strong foundation. Students will then choose track options in
Information Design, Visual Design, or Web Development to focus their skills towards an emphasis that suits their career. In a final capstone class
students will complete a comprehensive web based project utilizing the knowledge and skills that they have learned.
The program requires a minimum of 13.0 CEUs (130 in-class hours) in order to earn an Internet Design and Technology Certificate. The program
is divided into a core course section totaling 62 hours and different track options, each totaling 68 hours. The three different tracks offered are
Information Design, Visual Design, and Web Development. To obtain a certificate, you must complete the core courses plus one of the track options.

4. One of the following illustration drawing programs:
a. Adobe Illustrator (1.6 CEUs)
b. Macromedia FreeHand (1.6 CEUs)
5. One of the following image editing programs:
a. Adobe Photoshop - Beginning (1.6 CEUs)
b. Macromedia Fireworks (1.6 CEUs)
6. Program Final: Showcasing your Portfolio (0.4 CEU)

Student Learning Outcomes for the program
A. By the end of the certificate program, students will be able to design a fully functional web site on the Internet.
B. By the end of the certificate program, students will be able to objectively evaluate with clients and/or employers the needs of a web site for their
company and the types of elements that should be included in their web site.
C. By the end of the certificate program, students will be able to design and create graphics for their web site following the web graphic standards
and demonstrated by the instructor.
D. By the end of the certificate program in Track A, students will be able to analyze a web site for search engine optimization and apply basic search
engine marketing techniques.
E. By the end of the certificate program in Track A, students will be able to apply advanced web design skills.
F. By the end of the certificate program in Track B, students will be able to build multimedia components using Flash and video technology for their
web site.
G. By the end of the certificate program in Track B, students will be able to recognize the difference between print and web graphics and be able to
communicate to clients and/or employers the type of graphic files needed for their project.
H. By the end of the certificate program in Track C, students will be able to demonstrate how to connect a database to a website and display dynamic
data from the database on the web page.
I. By the end of the certificate program in Track C, students will be able to apply advanced web development skills.
