The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is pleased to announce that this year’s annual conference
will be held at the Hilton Oak Lawn Hotel in Oak Lawn, Illinois on November 20 & 21, 2008.

Participants will hear presentations by colleagues and related professionals in addition to updates from
ISBE.

Exhibit Hall Session

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

This year’s conference will offer the opportunity for nonpublic schools to “showcase” their programs
during an afternoon exhibit session. This session will offer registered participants the opportunity to
network and display the unique educational programming and services available at each site. An open
invitation to this session will be made to public school personnel and special education directors to
encourage them to better learn and discover the offerings and contributions nonpublic special education
programs afford public school districts across Illinois.

                             KEYNOTE SPEAKER

                               Dr. Hank Bohanon
                                 Assistant Professor
                 Curriculum, Instruction and Educational Psychology
                                School of Education
                             Loyola University Chicago


Dr. Bohanon has been a special education teacher in the Dallas Public Schools. He
also has served as project coordinator at the University of Kansas for the U.S.
Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs research on
positive behavior supports.

Dr. Hank Bohanon is currently the program advisor for the special education
program at Loyola University Chicago and Director of the Center for School
Evaluation, Intervention, and Training at Loyola University Chicago. His research
includes positive behaviors support and universal learning design in urban and
suburban settings. His current research focuses on supports for elementary, high
school settings and state level evaluation of practice.

Dr. Bohanon is the co-author of School-wide Positive Behavior Support in High
Schools: What Will It Take?

This conference is intended for administrators of nonpublic special education programs approved under
section 14-7.02 of the Illinois School Code.

Regular Registration Fee:      $120.00                             Presenter Registration Fee: $80.00
Registration fee includes all presentations and conference sessions, breakfast and lunch on Thursday and
Friday and conference materials. Registrations will not be processed without payment and complete
information. No purchase orders (P.O.s) will be accepted. Registration deadline is November 7, 20008

Online Registration
This year, all registration for the Best Practices and Guidelines for Nonpublic Special Education
Programs will be done on-line via the Illinois State Board of Education website
http://webapps.isbe.net/ISBEConference/. Below are a few important reminders for processing your
registration:
    ♦ When your registration information has been entered and submitted, you will be assigned a
      confirmation number.
    ♦ Please print two copies of the confirmation page. Keep one for your records and send one in
      with your conference fee payment.
    ♦ Checks should be made payable to Helen Tolan, Sangamon County Regional Office of
      Education, the fiscal agent for the conference.
    ♦ Please mail your check and a copy of the confirmation page to the following address:

Cancellation Policy
