PRESS RELEASE Manx Insurance Managers Association (MIMA) announces its plans for 2008
The Manx Insurance Managers Association (MIMA) is pleased to announce details of its events and conference plans for 2008. Following the huge success of the inaugural Captive Insurance seminar in the Isle of Man in 2007, the 2008 seminar will take place on 24 April at the Villa Marina, Douglas, Isle of Man. The seminar theme will be “Developments in the Captive World” and our keynote speaker will be Tim Edwards of the UK Financial Services Authority, together with presentations from David Vick (Isle of Man Regulator) and other local speakers. This year’s AIRMIC conference, the key gathering of UK Risk and Insurance Managers, is being held in Edinburgh on 17 & 18 June 2008. Isle of Man Finance and MIMA will be hosting the Isle of Man stand. Please come and see us at stand 53 in the Exhibition Hall. One of the key findings of the Bennet Report, the Isle of Man Captive Industry Review undertaken in 2007, was that higher profile marketing of the Isle of Man was required to sustain the industry in the coming years. With this in mind, MIMA has arranged the Isle of Man Captive Conference 2008. Organised in conjunction with Barclays, the event is being held in Barclays landmark office building in Churchill Place, Canary Wharf, London on 9 October 2008. This showcase event will have presentations on Insurance, Reinsurance and Captives by recognised industry experts aimed at the key decision makers in the UK market with keynote speeches from Sir Michael Bishop, Chairman of British Midland Airways Limited, Roger Nightingale, global economist and Henk Potts from Barclays Wealth.
