Lift Footwear Announces the Detroit Munny Show Featuring Local
and National Urban Vinyl Artists
ROYAL OAK, Mich. – November 10, 2006.
Lift Footwear is sponsoring Michigan’s first Munny art exhibit, featuring over 30
local and national artists. The opening reception will be held at Lift on Saturday,
November 18, 2006 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The show will continue through
December 3, 2006. Admission to the show is free. Lift is located at 202 W. 11
Mile Road in downtown Royal Oak, 1 block west of Main Street.
Created by Kidrobot, a Munny is a blank vinyl figure ready to be decorated by an
artist. This genre of art is often referred to as “urban vinyl” and can be
considered part of the broader category called “designer toys”.
Confirmed artists for the show include: UPSO, AZK aka AZK, Rob Eaton, Doktor
A, Brent Nolasco, Shiro, Squidboy, Motorbot, Wavedog, Nakanari, Bilbetsovic,
Lou Pimentel, Mssrvalmont, D-LuX, Jesa, KANO, Voidx, Sindekat, Chris
Pottinger, and Alf One.
A panel of judges will choose winners from all submitted entries. Awards will be
presented at the opening reception for First Place ($150), Second Place ($100),
Best Youth Artist ($50) and Best Amateur Artist ($50). In addition, attendees of
the opening reception will vote to select the Crowd Favorite ($100).
The opening reception will include hourly door prizes, food and drink, music and
special sales on store merchandise.
